VS.

Sooooo...we ALL know I was trying to lose weight BEFORE I got pregnant. I had just jumped back on the Weight Watchers bandwagon right around the time we (unknowingly) conceived. I was seeing success and feeling great and then I found out I was pregnant. Since then I have been watching my diet but not depriving myself and keeping up with my workout schedule of 3-4 times per week. So far in the last 14 weeks of pregnancy I have gained only 2 lbs. I think this is pretty good....I don't know how I compare to others, I may be right on the mark. But I was expecting to blow up like an elephant, and on top of the weight gain I STILL fit in my regular pants! This too may be normal but I had visions of me rolling around like Violet in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!

The point of this post in a non-sensical,round about way is to tell you about this issue I am having: MY scale vs the OBGYN scale. I own an OFFICIAL Weight Watchers scale...the nicest scale I have ever owned. When I weigh myself on this scale the number it produces nearly matches EXACTLY the number on the scale I was weighed on at my WW meetings. Imagine my horror when I walked into the OBGYN for the first time and it is seriously SIX pounds higher than my home scale (& the WW meeting scale!)!!!
I don't know why this bothers me SO MUCH but it kills me every time they weigh me on that devil bitch scale.

My sister-in-law and I just had this conversation last weekend and our conclusion was this: IGNORE THE DOCTOR'S SCALE!!

We both agreed that we paid NO attention to the number on that scale. It is always higher and really if you have a baseline to watch your gain (ie. your home scale) who cares what the # on the dr's scale says. I was always 5 lbs heavier on the dr's scale.

You've only gained 2 lbs in 14 weeks? Holy God Woman, you are good. I know I was up 5 lbs in the first 12 weeks. At least 5 lbs. Maybe more. And oh my gosh, you are already 14 weeks pregnant? You're in the 2nd trimester!! Wow, it feels like it is going fast already!

Wow yeah that would piss me off too.

Yes, I lost 8 pounds in two weeks from the horror of vomiting, but I gained that all back plus 4 pounds by the end of 12 weeks.

So you're all good lady.

Thank you for allowing me to ignore THEIR scale. I feel better now.

Also HELL YES to the joy of the 2nd trimester! Already I feel less tired and less scared. Thanks for the love ladies!

ignore the scale and give the baby a cupcake. or 2. or 3. You deserve it. You're cultivating human life and that shouldn't be done on a diet.

PS. Mister saw you at the Y with your mom and he said you looked cute doing curls on the exercise ball.

Oh, Holy Hell, YES! The scale at the OB's office always said 5 lbs more than mine at home. What is up with that?
Off topic, but why on earth do they size wedding dresses higher too?? Cuz you really need someone to make you feel bigger then.

I gained 15 real home scale pounds by week 14. I think it was because I was too nauseated to exercise and all I could eat was bread. I was wearing bigger pants by then too.
So good for you! Just please make sure you get a good amount of those healthy fats! And no impact exercise of course.
I just want you to feel good and enjoy being pregnant. Enjoy having that precious little soul be a part of you for the remaining time.
